What's buzzing? The latest on homes in Greater Manchester

It's no secret that Greater Manchester is a thriving region. It is filled with exciting businesses, growing towns and cities and high-quality homes. Its amenities and accessibility make it attractive for locals plus those looking to move across the country and even the world.

Manchester’s well-connected Metrolink tram system and international airport - not to mention its diverse city centre and vast green spaces - make this an area of opportunities. So it’s no surprise we’re seeing new build homes in Manchester grow in popularity.

For those considering a new home in the region, let's explore the best areas to live in Greater Manchester and recent trends in the property market.

Let's start with the main question, is now a good time to buy a house in Manchester?

In short, yes! Across the region, we have a diverse property market with homes built for homebuyers of all stages. Whether it be first-time buyers seeking an affordable step onto the property ladder, or a growing family looking to upsize, the variety of homes offered across the region makes it suitable for so many.

Oldham

When it comes to new housing developments in Oldham, our Hartshead View site is proving extremely popular and we’re seeing particularly high demand amongst first-time buyers.

We recently spoke to Monika and Damian, a couple who bought their first home at Hartshead View after 16 years of renting.

Monika said: “Because of our experiences renting, our dream was to own a new build property. We really wanted to be the first people living in the home and knew that a new build would be more energy efficient. We love the location of Hartshead View and the size of our home. We chose The Leven house type, which is a four-bed detached, with a big open-plan kitchen and family space.”

Oldham is also attracting more interest as it goes through an economic and physical regeneration. The ‘Building a Better Oldham’ initiative aims to revitalise the town centre by creating new homes, jobs and improved public spaces. The town is also only a 30-minute drive from Manchester City Centre and is accessible via the Metrolink network.

Rochdale

Rochdale is another Greater Manchester town experiencing rejuvenation. The multi-million-pound plan to regenerate the town centre includes a new retail and leisure complex, new housing, and a pedestrianised gateway into the area.

There is a range of new build homes in Rochdale too, including our Calico Grove development. This is ideally located close to Rochdale town centre which offers a range of amenities and great transport links to Manchester and Leeds. As a result, the development has become the perfect choice for people of all ages.

Salford

The establishment of Salford Quays and MediaCity UK has created a halo effect on Salford’s suburbs.

Our development, The Fairways at Brackley Village in Salford is a stunning development of 207 new homes, ideally located between Manchester and Bolton. We’re currently offering a collection of four-bedroom homes which are close to the city yet just a short distance from the rolling countryside of the Pennine moors.

Partington

At our Millbank Lock development in Partington, we’re seeing lots of interest from families. Its proximity to both the city centre and the popular suburbs of Altrincham, Hale and Lymm, has made it particularly attractive for those aspiring to live in the area.

Located on the picturesque banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, homeowners are enjoying the growing community and great local amenities.

Goodness, a first-time buyer at Millbank Lock, said: “We’re developing a community that’s right for us to raise our families within. We wanted an area that had good schools and a family-friendly feel, and we have found this here in Partington.”
