Our handy mortgage calculator can help you discover how much you could potentially borrow.
More
Try out our calculator to work out how much your monthly mortgage repayments could potentially be based on the interest rate and the number of years you intend to repay the mortgage over.
For the most accurate results you’ll also need to add in your deposit. If you’d like to get an idea of how long it will take you to save for a deposit, take a look at our Deposit Savings Calculator here.
There are plenty of other costs associated with buying a home that you may also need to factor in, such as Stamp Duty and legal fees for example.
Mortgage calculator:
Property Value
Deposit Amount
Mortgage required
Loan to value
Typical Monthly Repayments:
Years
Interest Rate
Monthly repayment
Mortgage required:
£285,000
Interest rate:
5%
Monthly repayments
£1,438
Use the sliding scale or value box to enter your deposit amount into the calculator along with the value of the home you are looking to buy. This will then give you an indicative figure for the size of mortgage you will need and the monthly repayments.
This figure will be based on the results from the information you initially entered, but you can amend these to see the impact a bigger deposit or longer mortgage term could have.
When looking at this figure it is always good to consider how much repayment you can comfortably afford. Don’t try to stretch yourself too far and make sure your budget allows for other eventualities such as future rises in interest rates.
1. Enter your property value and deposit
The first step is to enter your property value and how much you can afford to pay towards your deposit.
2. Enter your repayment terms
To get an accurate idea of how much you will be paying each month, select over how many years you want to pay off your mortgage. The older you are, the lower the number of years you should select. You will also need to enter an interest rate.
3. Complete!
Now you’ll be left with a figure for your monthly repayments.
