Welcome to Kirkbymoorside

Kirkbymoorside really is nestled on the edge of the North York Moors National Park where you will find endless footpaths and old farming villages to explore. The area is home to some of the oldest coaching inns in England and is steeped in history dating back to the Roman invasion in 71 AD. After the Romans had left, the Anglo Saxons made the area their home and built a number of fabulously ornate abbeys, the remains of which are available to visit.

Locally you’ll find a range of independent shops selling fresh produce to help with day to day requirements, further afield a short drive will take you to Malton, where there’s a selection of larger supermarkets. Kirkbymoorside and the surrounding villages have several restaurants and traditional inns for meals and socialising with friends. For a full day out shopping or a day exploring medieval architecture, the iconic city of York is within easy reach by bus or car.

You’re well situated for education, as Manor Woods encircles Kirkbymoorside Community Primary which is rated 'Good by Ofsted. Ryedale Secondary School is under 3 miles away and is rated 'Outstanding'. For higher education opportunities, the University of York is a Russell Group Institution and has a huge selection of courses and degrees available.

Malton is a little under half an hour’s drive away and has a main line train station, from which York is 26 minutes by train. By car, York is 50 minutes’ drive and the A1M is reached in 40 minutes, providing great links to the national motorway network. There are several bus services in the town, including a direct route to York. For some time abroad, Leeds Bradford Airport is an hour and 20 minutes away and offers travel to international destinations.
