Seal of Excellence for Meridian One site manager at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2023

Simon Murphy, a construction site manager at Meridian One, which is being delivered by Countryside Partnerships and Enfield Council as the first phase of the landmark Meridian Water regeneration scheme in Enfield, has been awarded with a ‘Seal of Excellence’ at the 2023 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards in recognition of the high standards of construction at the development.

Simon was just one of nine site managers from across London that were selected to receive the ‘Seal of Excellence’, out of a total of around 10,000 site managers entered into the national awards from across the country. Simon and the Meridian One project team were also awarded with a Quality Award from the NHBC (National House Building Council) for their outstanding efforts in constructing the first phase of the £6bn Meridian Water regeneration project in Edmonton. Earlier this year the site team also achieved the highest score of 45/45 for their efforts in the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) audit.

Now in its 43rd year, the Pride in the Job Awards is one of the most highly regarded competitions in the housebuilding industry, celebrating site managers who demonstrate excellence and commitment to producing homes of outstanding quality. Employees working on sites registered for an NHBC warranty are automatically entered into this competition and are judged over the course of 12 months.

The awards for the London region were held on Friday 27th October and are extremely prestigious, recognising the outstanding performances and accomplishments of all the Quality Award winners, which is achieved by the best in the housebuilding industry.

Winning site managers are judged on their ability to demonstrate incredible dedication, passion commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality. The judges look for that spark of magic that turns a good site manager into a true great.

Earlier this year the first residents received their keys for new council homes at the transformational Meridian Water project. The 20 completed homes are part of the 50 per cent affordable housing offer being built in the first phase of Meridian One, with 300 homes being delivered in this phase by the end of 2024.

Ray Toft, Managing Director, London South, Countryside Partnerships, commented: “Having already received the Quality Award earlier this year, we’re proud that Simon and his team have gone one better and received the prestigious Seal of Excellence from the NHBC. We’re committed to the highest standard of construction at Meridian One, so congratulations to Simon and the team for achieving this significant industry recognised accolade. We look forward to maintaining these standards across the rest of the project as we deliver these much-needed, high-quality homes.”

Simon Murphy, Project Manager, Countryside Partnerships, said:

“It’s such a great achievement to receive this recognition for our hard work; testament to our efforts in delivering the highest quality homes for our partners and customers. This is my third Pride in the Job award while working for Countryside Partnerships, and I will always relay the same statement – this isn’t just a solo effort, and I have to say a huge thank you to my fantastic site team including our valued suppliers and supply chain, who each go above and beyond to make sure every day runs as smoothly as possible out on site. Here’s to next year!”
