New Sainsbury's Local now open at Beam Park

The latest community facility at Beam Park has now opened, a Sainsbury’s Local which is already proving popular with customers.

The new store features a carefully curated selection of Sainsbury’s great value, high-quality food and drink, as well as general merchandise. Providing everything from fresh bread and cakes baked daily in-store to delicious fruit and veg, meat, fish and meal solutions, the new store has been designed to bring more convenience and choice to residents in Beam Park, however busy their daily lives.

Now open between the hours of 7am and 11pm seven days a week, the 2,863 sq. ft store is located in The Square, the heart of the Beam Park regeneration scheme in Dagenham and Rainham. The Square is a high-quality public space where the commercial and community facilities on offer will include a new medical centre and more shops.

More than 850 homes have now been delivered in the first two phases of Beam Park, which will comprise 1,158 new homes and community facilities, including a new nursery, medical centre, retail spaces and primary school, when fully complete.

As well as a Costa Coffee machine, customers can also take advantage of a new Click & Collect service in the store, conveniently enabling them to order online from Sainsbury’s much-loved Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing brands for collection whilst picking up their groceries.

Sainsbury’s Beam Park Local will help support local good causes that redistribute unsold food locally via its partnership with Neighbourly, which will also help the retailer deliver its commitment to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030. Customer food donations in the store will also be redistributed via Fareshare.

Kevin Delve, Managing Director, London East, Countryside Partnerships, said: “Following the successful opening of the multi-use games area, we are excited that Sainsbury’s have now opened their new local store at Beam Park - testament to the wider facilities we are delivering for this new community. With the new nursery extremely popular and the health centre set to open next year, we’re proud of the range of amenities that residents will have on their doorsteps and Sainsbury’s sought-after supermarket offering is a key part of this.”

Darren Parker, Director of Development and Regeneration, L&Q, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome this new addition to the Beam Park Square, improving the commercial offering in the local area. The new Sainsbury’s will bring with it not only the convenience of having a supermarket on people’s doorstep, alongside other newly opened facilities, but also new job opportunities and just in time for Christmas, bringing even more joy to the community.”

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re passionate about bringing Sainsbury’s tasty, well-sourced food within easier reach of our customers wherever we can, so we’re delighted to have opened a Local store in Beam Park, creating new jobs for local people in the process. We’re determined to help everyone make the most of their mealtimes and hope that our newest Sainsbury’s store will do just that for all our customers in the neighbourhood.”

Zeiban Shaffi, Sainsbury’s Beam Park Local Store Manager, said: “It’s fantastic to be up and running in Beam Park after months of working together to get our new store ready for customers. I’m really proud of my new team for helping us to get off to a flying start and we’re looking forward to serving the local community for years to come.”
