New homes boost rental options in Great Haddon

Great Haddon, Peterborough, has seen an influx of much-needed properties for the rental market as Countryside Partnerships, the UK’s leading mixed tenure developer, has completed the first of 117 new homes at Fletton Folly, which will be owned and managed by Rental Living by Legal & General, the suburban build-to-rent arm of Legal & General Capital’s multi-tenure housing platform.

The new rental homes have been delivered as figures from Rightmove show that the average number of tenants chasing each rental property in Britain has risen from six in 2019 to 25 in September 2023, demonstrating the severe shortage of homes for rent across the country.

The homes at Fletton Folly provide two-, three- and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses, carefully designed to meet modern needs and tastes, with open-plan layouts, light and airy interiors, and French doors leading out to patios.

Created as an integral part of a new community, those moving into rental properties at Fletton Folly will have access to new schools, parks, water features and other community amenities all within convenient walking distance. There are two existing primary schools in Yaxley which are both rated good by Ofsted. The new residents will also benefit from open fields and meadows with footpaths and cycleways right on their doorstep.

New residents will also have access to excellent transport connections. Peterborough Station is just over five miles away, which provides train services to many destinations with London reachable within 50 minutes. For journeys by car, the A1 and other major road links are close by.

Lee Parry, Managing Director, North East Midlands, Countryside Partnerships, said: “I’m extremely proud to hand over these great new homes to Legal & General. There is a real need for high-quality homes for the rental market in the area and Fletton Folly is ideally located, combining spacious and attractive homes with an exciting evolving community where people can enjoy an exceptional lifestyle. With strong links with nature as well as fast access to bustling towns and cities, this is a place designed for people and families to thrive.”

David Reid, Managing Director, Rental Living by Legal & General, said: “With shortages across every corner of the housing market, it’s crucial to step up delivery of new homes across the UK. I’m proud that Rental Living by Legal & General is working with Countryside Partnerships to deliver much-needed, high-quality family homes for Great Haddon. Delivering first-class developments and customer service is at the heart of what we do, so our team is very much looking forward to welcoming new residents and supporting them as they build their new homes and community.”

When complete, Fletton Folly will provide over 300 new homes, with 125 homes for open-market sale, 117 for private rental to be owned and managed by Legal & General, and 105 affordable homes to be owned and managed by Cross Keys Homes.
