Countryside Partnerships has lent a hand to one of Britain’s leading junior BMX riders to make sure she could take part in this year’s World Championships in Scotland
In the last two years Ellie Curtis has shot to fame, achieving a series of top results across the South West and nationally. The young rider is now racing in the 14-year-old male category, where she has worked extremely hard to gain a place to represent Great Britain.
In preparation for this year’s World Championships, Ellie’s local BMX club – Decoy in Newton Abbot – was raising funds to upgrade the facility to make sure it provides the best practice environment for the riders.
Countryside Partnerships first heard about the fundraising campaign via one of its sub-contractors, Beaumont Drylining, where Ellie’s dad works, and was keen to support the young star.
Patrick Williamson, an assistant site manager at Harrington Park, Pinhoe, visited the Decoy track to meet Ellie and provide her with the donation on behalf of Countryside Partnerships, where Ellie and the team showcased some BMX tricks and explained how much the track had impacted their lives.
He said: “Meeting Ellie and seeing the BMX tricks in person was incredible! She’s already achieved a huge amount in the sport and we wish her all the best at future World Championships.”
