Hear from Joey, Wai and Amanda about their experiences with Countryside

Joey’s brother, Wai and his partner Amanda made the move from Hong Kong to Oldham in 2022 to start a new life together in the UK - following a recommendation from a friend who had previously relocated with Countryside. It wasn’t long before one recommendation led to another and Joey joined them in 2023.

Like many other Hong Kong nationals looking to escape political unrest, Wai and Amanda moved here via the British National (Overseas) Scheme, set up to allow Hongkongers to live, work and study in the UK. 

When we spoke to Wai last year, he told us “I would really recommend Countryside to anyone thinking of making the move from Hong Kong; in fact, my sister will be moving to Countryside’s Radclyffe Green development this year.”

Keen to hear how their family were also settling in, we recently caught up with Joey. 

Adapting

“Our home is super light and airy which makes the ever-changing Manchester weather easier to adapt to and my favourite thing is the open-plan layout. 

“There’s plenty of room for the whole family so we can enjoy spending time together in our new home.”
